Terms and Conditions

Please read these terms before buying or downloading a ChocoX product. By purchasing, downloading or using a product, you agree to them. This is a plain-English summary of the agreement between you and ChocoX.

1. The products

ChocoX sells the Shelf-Life Predictor (Windows desktop software) and the Chocolate Science eBook (a digital EPUB guide). The Shelf-Life Predictor estimates a recipe’s water activity and likely shelf-life category and offers related guidance. It is a decision-support and educational tool only. It is not food-safety, laboratory, legal or regulatory advice, and it does not guarantee the safety, shelf life or legal compliance of any product you make or sell.

2. The Shelf-Life Predictor is a risk advisor, not a guarantee

The Predictor gives estimates, a cautious worst case and a confidence rating based on recipe data. Real shelf life depends on ingredients, process, hygiene, packaging and storage that the program cannot see. It does not replace laboratory water-activity testing or a real keeping trial. For any product you sell, you must validate shelf life independently and meet the food-safety and labelling rules that apply where you trade. You are responsible for your own products.

3. Your licence to use

Each purchase is a one-time payment for your own use.

  • The purchase covers this version of the product. Future major versions may require a new purchase.
  • You may install and use the software on computer(s) you own or control for your own business.
  • You may not resell, share, publish, redistribute, rent or lend the software, the eBook or your download link.
  • You may not copy, decompile, reverse-engineer or attempt to extract the program’s internal models or logic, except where the law expressly allows.

4. Your responsibility for accuracy

You are responsible for the information you enter and for checking the program’s outputs before relying on them. Always verify shelf-life, allergen and labelling decisions against your own testing and the rules that apply where you trade. ChocoX products assist you; they do not replace your own checks or professional advice.

5. Supplied “as is”

Products are provided “as is”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we give no warranties that they will be error-free or fit for any particular purpose. This does not affect statutory rights you have as a consumer that cannot legally be excluded.

6. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim connected with a product or these terms is limited to the amount you paid for it. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost profit or losses arising from spoiled product, incorrect shelf-life decisions, labels or records. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law (for example, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud).

7. Price, payment and tax

Prices are shown on the website at the time of purchase. Payment is handled securely by Stripe; we do not store your card details. Depending on where you are, sales tax or VAT may apply.

8. Downloads, refunds and cancellation

Our products are digital and are supplied to you immediately as a download. By completing your purchase you ask for the download to be supplied immediately and you acknowledge that, once it has been supplied, you lose any right to cancel and obtain a refund that would otherwise apply to digital content.

We do not offer refunds simply for change of mind after the download has been supplied. If a product is genuinely faulty and we cannot put it right, you remain entitled to any remedy required by law. Nothing here removes mandatory consumer rights in your country.

9. Support and updates

Support is provided on a best-effort basis by email and through the contact page. We do not guarantee response times, and we are not obliged to provide updates or new features. Any updates we do release are provided under these same terms.

10. New software notice

The Shelf-Life Predictor is independent software and is not yet code-signed, so Windows or antivirus tools may show an “unknown publisher” or similar warning on first install. The program is supplied in good faith. Install only from chocox.co.uk.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version published on chocox.co.uk at the time of your purchase applies to that purchase.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer in another country, you still have the benefit of any mandatory consumer protections that apply where you live.
